More than 50 rockets have been fired on the southern province of Kilis, on the border with Syria, from the territory controlled by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) over the past four months, which have left 16 people dead and 50 others injured.
The southern province has increasingly become a target of ISIL rockets from Syria.
On Sunday, a rocket fired by ISIL hit a mosque near the Kilis Governor’s Office, killing one and injuring 10 others. Deputy Prime Minister Yalçın Akdoğan was reportedly having a meeting with Kilis Governor Süleyman Tapsız at the Governor’s Office at the time of the explosion.
Kilis currently hosts 129,211 Syrians, while its population stands at 130,655, according to official figures from 2015.
