Zaman daily Editor-in-Chief Abdülhamit Bilici and Bülent Keneş from Today’s Zaman were fired by trustees appointed to the Zaman Media Group in the latest crackdown on free media by the government.

Bilici and Keneş, Today’s Zaman columnist and its former editor-in-chief, were fired on Saturday after trustees took control of the management of the daily.

An İstanbul court appointed trustees over the Feza Media Group, which includes Zaman newspaper, Today’s Zaman and the Cihan News Agency on Friday amid increasing pressure on critical media groups by the government.
